I first started working on this project back in 1998! I listened to some kind of trainer that suggested that it is a good idea to take the time to create a story of your vision.
I took his suggestion literally and started writing about how I envisioned different people playing a role in bringing about a shift to nonviolent sanctions to replace political violence.
It was really fun – and very inspiring!
The timing wasn’t right, but I kept my vision in the back of my mind, knowing I would get back to it eventually. I think the timing is perfect to bring this vision to reality right now (March, 2011). With all the examples of people power taking place right now in the Middle East and lots of other places, I think people may be much more open than they usually are to learning about and getting involved with something like this.
We just need to invite as many people as we can and we’ll find the right allies to work with us!
So, here is my “book” (it is 30 pages long) – Nonviolence Works – the story of how we made the shift to a world without political violence.
